Update

I'm still working on finishing up some projects. I have just been busy! For now just head on over to Roadkill Rescue and check out my stenciled table which has been featured! It is a great website which features new projects of rescued and upcycled items daily. Everything shown people got for free. It is a great place to find inspiration and ideas for upcycling. There is everything from a way to reuse plastic spoons to converting dressers to media cabinets. So head on over and explore all of the rescues! Hope everyone is having a great weekend :)

Finally Finished: empire dresser before and after

I have been wanting to paint this tall empire dresser I got off of craigslist for a few weeks now. The main reason it kept getting put off was because the knobs would not just come off of the drawers. They had to be drilled out (the dresser is so old the knobs were not just screwed in, but wedged in). Once my dad helped me with that part, I could easily sand the drawers.

3 Drawer Eastlake Dresser

Dressers are my favorite furniture pieces to makeover. There are so many styles out there with different hardware, lines, curves, and woods. I always seem to be drawn to antique/old dressers because they have the best style.

When I saw this piece at an estate sale down the road, I knew it had potential. First thing I noticed were the paneled sides (been wanting one with paneled sides). I knew right away I was going to paint the dresser, but thought the oak top should be left alone. I left one of the glass handles on for the picture, but they were all there.

Queen Anne Nightstand

A few weeks ago I went garage saling with my friend and her mom. A whole neighborhood in Kent (near where we were for the weekend) was having a bunch of sales! My kind of weekend ;) I had already gotten another side table/nightstand at the Salvation Army the day before and was told by my mom "no more furniture!". The garage is already packed and I did not need to bring anything else home... but this one was not my fault.

When we walked up to the garage sale the nightstand was the first thing I spotted. I loved it and wanted it, but tried to control the urge to run over and claim it as mine. When my friend's mom saw it she said I HAD to have it. I told her I could not take another piece home... but she did not listen. It was already cheap, but she got it cheaper and told the lady I would take it. Deep down I was crazy excited because I have been wanting to paint a queen anne style something!

Turquoise Empire Dresser

Empire dressers have been my obsession lately. They are very pricey, so I always thought I would never have the chance to work on one. I found this one on craigslist. It was listed as a project piece because it needed a lot of work. The girl was moving and needed it gone. While I prefer the less obnoxious more toned down empire dressers, like my other one I have yet to do, (it can be seen at the end of this post) I decided to go for it and see how it turned out.

Yes that picture is off of craigslist. Yes I have the craigslist app on my phone. Yes I am addicted to craigslist. I admit it.

Updated Mid Century Modern Dresser

In my last post I said my next project way going to be the empire dresser... but things have changed. I ended up starting other projects that were smaller/faster/easier. I plan on starting it this week and hopefully finishing it as well. Now that I have the paint and hardware for the drawers, I can get started.

I unexpectedly got a dresser from my uncle that her no longer wanted. He was moving and did not need it anymore. The fun part was it used to be my dad's before my parents were married, them they handed it down to my uncle, and now he gave it back to them... well, me :)
